I was outside with the dogs this afternoon and came up on the back deck and saw this little guy in our backyard. I ran inside to get the camera and captured this picture just before he (or she) took off into the corn field behind our house. We've suspected that there is a den of red fox behind the house, and this pretty much confirms it! The picture is a little blurry and far away, but it's a red fox...I promise!

Thursday Thirteen (I'm to lazy to enter a logo code today)
Thirteen things I want:
1. The next three weeks to go fast so that I'm done at the office and can focus on school.
2. My chemistry prof. to get the syllabus corrected so I can get the lab schedule in my planner.
3. The temperature to go down about 10 degrees.
4. The dogs to stop barking.
5. Boss to stop making me feel bad when he tell people that I'm leaving.
6. A smarter president.
OK, now these are purely fantasy....but maybe when I'm done with school?!?!
7. An unlimited handbag budget (I have a slight obsession...)
8. A week away with hubby (and maybe the dogs) in the mountains near a lake.
9. My Mazda3 back (I had to go practical...couldn't get the Mazda out of the driveway in the winter!)
10. To go to Times Square for New Years.
11. To go to New Orleans for Mardis Gras.
12. To go on an extended vacation to Europe so hubby can show me Spain and we can explore Italy together.
13. A pool. Not really, but today one would be really nice!

An Observation....
While I realize that there are people that genuinely have health problems that necessitate the use of the electric cart at the store, there are some people that are just fat and lazy. Frankly, a few laps around the store would probably do most of them some good.

Thanks to Sean's Ramblings for this link. Apparently, I'm rated G as well. Maybe it's time to spice it up a bit?

Thirteen things about me:
1. Like Jaded Moon said last week...I need a haircut.
2. I am 30 years old.
3. I am married.
4. I am quitting my full-time job to return to school full time and only work part-time.
5. I am terrified of spiders, but not of snakes.
6. I don't feel guilty about driving an SUV, because we live where we need 4WD most of the winter.
7. I use coupons and love seeing the "total saved" at the bottom of my grocery receipt.
8. I am slightly addicted to getting free samples.
9. I have two dogs, a year and a half old Chocolate Lab, and a 4 month old Yellow Lab.
10. I own a handgun.
11. I have a concealed carry permit for said handgun.
12. I'm trying to get excited about the free, unlimited use of the university gym, but it's just not working.
13. Hubby and I bought bikes yesterday and I only made it about a mile and a half on our first ride before I started whining!

Crazy day....
It is definitely Monday! I went to the dentist this morning to get new aligners (for my invisalign) so now my teeth hurt again. I know, I go through this every two weeks, but the first day or two are really bad, then it just goes to the pressure for the remainder of the aligner.
Next, at approximately 10:00 a.m. we hear a loud "bang" from outside the office and the power goes out. We were without power for over 4 hours, which made for a nice break in the day, but now we're playing catch-up. Well, I'm writing this instead of working, but I needed to take a sanity break before I finish up. I think something blew the transformer that is behind the office....it was smoking before Penelec got here.
I got the estimate for the deer damage to my car....$1,400.00! Thank goodness for insurance! Fortunately, since it was a deer claim, it doesn't count against our driving history to increase our insurance rates.

One of those weeks.....
I started off the week by hitting a deer on Monday night and it's just been downhill from there. I put the mortgage payment in the mail without a stamp or a return address (genius, no?), and I've been trying all week to figure out why the sewing machine keeps breaking thread. It has been doing this since I changed the needle that I broke about a month ago. Needless to say, even though the needle is shaped to make you think it can only go in one way....it can go in both ways and I had it in backwards. So, (or sew, as the case may be), the puppy finally has a cover for the foam pad in her crate so she doesn't have to sleep on an old sheet anymore.

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen questions I've been asked so far this week...
1. Which one of you is leaving? (the ad ran this weekend for my replacement)
2. Why are you leaving? (to go back to school full-time)
3. What happened to the front of your car? (I hit a deer and haven't been able to get it to the repair shop yet)
4. Do you know your headlight is crooked/falling out/messed up? (yes, see above. As long as my hood is closed, it is pretty stable and I don't plan on driving around with the hood up!)
5. Will you switch shifts with me at the Evil Empire? (That answer was yes, I may need him to cover me in the future.)
6. This is my fourth DUI, do you think I need to go to rehab? (Most likely, but you definitely need to start drinking at home)
7. Do I actually need to appear for my hearing? (unless you want to see "fireworks" in the county jail...yes you need to be there)
8. Why won't you accept my brother's collect calls from jail? (because we've been communicating with you and I'm not accepting collect calls to discuss a criminal case on a recorded jail line)
These are just from this morning....what not to ask when trying to schedule an interview:
9. How much will I be making? (I'm not the one interviewing you...come to the interview and find out)
10. Were there a lot of applicants? (It's one of the most successful firms in the area...what do you think?)
11. What are my chances? (how 'bout you come to the interview and find out?)
12. I've already put in my notice at my current job and accepted another job...how soon will I know if I get this one? (Frankly, if you are willing to jump ship that quickly, boss probably doesn't want you here)
13. Can I come for my interview at 5:45 p.m.? (I proposed 4:30 p.m....you've already put in your notice at your other job...what are they going to do....fire you?)

Febreze Candles
So, I go home yesterday to an unexpected package in the garage. It's one of the new Febreze candles! I heard that they were coming out soon and was thrilled to get to try one before they actually hit store shelves. The one I received is Apple Spice scented. I was a little worried because the scent seemed really strong when the candle was in the package, with just the little hole in the top to let the scent out. When I opened the candle, the scent dispersed nicely with just a hint of it detectable in a two room range. I had it burning for about three hours last night and you can hardly tell by looking at the candle. It seems like it will last a long time. I can't wait to try the other scents.

Monday Madness....
The "help wanted" ad for the office went in the newspaper on Sunday. I've been fielding calls all day from prospective applicants (who obviously can't read...we specified to send letter/resume and "no calls please.") as well as various offices that we deal with regularly, wanting to know which of us is leaving.
I've been sleeping much better at night now that everything is out in the open about me leaving the office and going back to school. I'm even contemplating doing my undergrad in 3 years (instead of the 2 to get my pre-reqs done) and getting a chemistry degree in those three years, then head to pharmacy school. That's still up in the air, but I am registered and scheduled for fall semester. Currently, I'm waiting for the e-mail to take the placement test for the 200 level Chem class that I've registered for.

Mortality
A friend's husband just died on Saturday night/Sunday morning. They were to have their second anniversary in July, they bought a house last summer and she's three months pregnant. They were out at a wedding party and were walking to their car to leave and he just collapsed and died later at the hospital. She's 27 and he was only 30. I'm going to the funeral home with friends tonight, but I just don't know what to say. I didn't know him that well, but I worked with my friend and her mom for several years in the past.
This just really puts into perspective how fragile life is.

Man vs. Wild
So I started back to work at the "evil empire" this weekend. After a nice short shift on Saturday, I had to work from 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. When I got home I was dead tired and ultimately fell asleep on the recliner. Hubby's new obsession is Man vs. Wild and he was watching while I was asleep. Needless to say, I was dreaming that I was in the scenarios that the show was covering and had a crazy two hours of napping yesterday afternoon. I am somewhat confident that I could build a snow cave after "surviving" a snow storm on a mountain in my dream!

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen Things I'd Rather Be Doing.... 1. Finish painting the kitchen; 2. Play with the dogs; 3. Scheduling my fall classes; 4. Not feeling like an outsider since I've told my boss that I'm leaving at the end of August; 5. Cleaning the house that has been neglected this week; 6. Chatting with my aunt and cousin to update them on this past week; 7. Chatting with SeanRambling's wife since we never seem to have enough time to catch up these days....life keeps getting in the way! 8. Planting the rose bushes that arrived yesterday; 9. Finishing putting mulch in the flower beds; 10. Enjoying Presque Isle; 11. Spending time with hubby; 12. Fixing the lawnmower deck; 13. Just about anything rather than working! |

Proactiv?
Ok, so I've been using Proactiv for a little over a month now. I haven't been following the directions exactly, as I only use all three steps in the morning and then sometimes wash my face at night. I realize that I'm not following the recommended directions, but the acne on my face seems to be about the same, if not a little worse. I never had bad acne to begin with, just an occasional pimple here and there and blackheads on my nose. Now, the blackheads seem to be replaced by whiteheads and the pimples that appear are more cystic than before.
I'd love any feedback from other Proactiv users on this issue. Yes, I've checked makeupalley.com to check the reviews, but for every person there that had a bad result, there is another that had a great result.
Do I just need to buckle down and use all three steps morning and night?

Who cares about Bush's watch?
I can't believe how many news channels covered the "what happened to Bush's watch?" story! We have men and women dying in Iraq and Afghanistan and this is the stuff that they cover?

First Blog
Hey all,
This is my first blog so bear with me. I am a product junkie and will try just about anything once, so I plan on posting reviews and comments about products that I've tried here. I also hope to be able to post about my life as a sounding board for the changes that are coming about.
I look forwarding to getting to know the blog world!
